Learning Outcomes

Students at HCCPHS are assessed through five learning outcomes (see definition poster below).  The primary mode of instruction is to learn through projects which are launched prior to new learning and are made up of familiar learning activities such as daily tasks, benchmarks, workshops, quizzes, presentations, and tests.  Students work collaboratively to achieve difficult tasks and projects, however, are assessed individually as well.  A student's overall grade for a class will be made up of the five learning outcomes.  Percentages and weights vary by department and an example breakdown is given below:
Knowledge and Thinking = 55%
Written Communication = 20%
Oral Communication = 10%
Collaboration = 10%
Agency = 5%
