March 5, 2021 - The Comal Independent School District has eight educational diagnosticians serving students across the district. These trained professionals are part of the special education team. The week of March 1-5 was Texas Educational Diagnosticians Week and is the perfect opportunity to highlight their role in education.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude for our diagnosticians and their tireless work in supporting children and families in the special education process,” said Michele Martella, executive director for special education services.
“The Comal ISD diagnosticians have done amazing work with impact from Spring 2020 school closures in ensuring children received timely evaluations and family support.”
Their role in education includes assessing students suspected of disabilities and writing formal evaluation reports. Diagnosticians provide information to ARD Committee meetings and assist special and general educators to provide students with the appropriate education recommendations.
The eight diagnosticians for Comal ISD include Brooke Cloe at Hoffmann Lane Elementary, Jacqueline Hembree at Mountain Valley Elementary and Rebecca Creek Elementary, Laurie Michie at Specht Elementary, LuAn Jonas at Church Hill Middle, Michelle Perry at Canyon High, Shondalyn McIntyre at Bill Brown Elementary and Rebecca Creek Elementary, Tammy Cardoza at Johnson Ranch Elementary and Tara Rangel at Timberwood Park Elementary.
Thank you for all you do!
